The investigation of the allegations of excessive violence by members of the Police on Saturday, February 13, 2021, during the protest of citizens in Nicosia, was decided by the Independent Authority for the Investigation of Allegations and Complaints, which met today.
In a statement, AADIPA states that it has decided the ex-officio investigation of the case, on the occasion of the publications that refer to the possibility of excessive violence by members of the Police, as well as because it became aware of the intention of the Chief of Police to write a letter to the Authority of the day, to investigate the episodes.
As the Authority notes tomorrow, 15/02/2021, the consent of the Attorney General of the Republic will be requested, for the appointment of criminal investigators, as provided by law.
