The Ambassador of Cyprus in Slovenia presented credentials

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Slovenia, based in Vienna, Maria Michael, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc Musar, on May 3, at a ceremony in Presidential Palace, in Ljubljana, during which they discussed the developments in the Cyprus issue and the President of Slovenia expressed her country's long-standing commitment to respect for international law and human rights.

As stated in a statement, in the private meeting with the President of Slovenia, Mrs. Michael conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, for the progress and well-being of the people of Slovenia and expressed her commitment to work for the further strengthening and expanding the already excellent cooperation between the two countries in areas such as defence, trade, climate challenges and crisis management.

It is also noted that the Ambassador had the opportunity to inform President Mushar about the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and about Turkey's provocative and delinquent behavior. At the same time, he informed about the new initiative of the President of the Republic to strengthen the role of the European Union in the efforts to restart the negotiations, but also in the negotiation process itself, always in the context of the Good Services of the Secretary General of the United Nations.

< p> Finally, it is reported that the President of Slovenia expressed her intention to support the effort  further deepening of Cyprus-Slovenia relations, expressing at the same time the country's long-standing commitment to respect for international law and human rights. She also underlined the importance her country attaches to the principles on which the European Union is based, while stressing the importance of European integration as a catalyst for democratization, peace and stability.
