The District Court of Paphos today rejected the request submitted by a young mother for suspension of the execution of the decision of the Family Court, by which she was called to hand over her 5-year-old son to his father, who lives in America, as well as to pay the costs. of travel but also court costs.
The judge did not accept any of the 8 reasons cited by the young mother's lawyer. It is recalled that the court acquitted the father of the child and instructed the mother to hand over her son's passport.
Yesterday, relatives and friends of the young mother gathered outside the court and demanded the suspension of the execution of the court decision.
The president of the Pancyprian Association of Single-Parent Families, Argentoula Ioannou, was also present and said that they support the mother, who has been in Cyprus with her child for about three and a half years.
According to information, the defense attorney is expected to file an appeal to the Supreme Court within the day and will ask for the matter to be addressed immediately.
