The appeal of a Turkish activist to lift the ban on entry to Turkey was rejected

Turkish Cypriot activist Munur Rahvanzioglu's appeal against the decision to ban his entry into Turkey was rejected by the Ankara Administrative Court.  of the three judges. 

Mr Rahvancioglu had taken legal action when he was denied entry to Ankara's Esenboga Airport in September 2022 based on the N-82 code. The code in question, according to Turkish law, allows foreigners who are considered a “threat to public order and security” to be banned from entering.

The court, in the decision of, ruled that the invocation of the N-82 code in the case of Mr. Rahvantzioglu was made “for reasons of national security” and was based on a “report of the competent authorities”. However, the dissenting judge argued that sufficient evidence was not provided to justify the entry ban.

Mr Rahvanzioglou, through his lawyer, announced that he would appeal against the decision.
