In this great Christmas celebration, our thoughts are first of all our fellow human beings who are in need, but also in our occupied homeland, where our churches remain mute today, said the Archbishop of Cyprus George.
Speaking after the Christmas Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas, George of Cyprus wished all the Cypriot people a Merry Christmas, urging us all to turn to the great messages of Christmas in order to benefit spiritually.
“We ask God, who came to bring both peace and justice, to see our request as well, to heal people's needs, but also to help our country find its freedom and redemption, so that we can freely operate our churches and glorify God in them” said the elected Archbishop.
Speaking of his first Christmas service as Archbishop, George of Cyprus , he said excitedly and mentioned that this is a position of responsibility and not of pleasure or selfishness. “I am asking God to help me to appear worthy of the people's expectations,” said the new Archbishop.
