The Asian tiger mosquito was detected in Kyrenia after special mosquito traps were set up in some areas, according to the press.
Publications refer to an announcement by the “Ministry of Health”, that all the necessary measures have been taken by the competent “Primary Health Care Department”. It is added that the mosquito in question causes dengue fever, yellow fever, and has particularly allergic reactions to West Nile virus, Zika virus and Chikungunya virus.
The “health ministry” notes that these mosquitoes can multiply and to thrive in small puddles. “It is very important to recognize the breeding and living areas in our home, garden, balcony and take simple precautions there.” He adds that the dishes under the pots, the decorative pools, the water we leave for the animals are the easiest breeding places for these mosquitoes and we need to change these waters once a week.
