The big fire in Kandara, which continues for 24 hours, is directed towards the occupied village “Mantres”.
Two firefighting aircraft of the Forest Department of the Republic of Cyprus started operating in the big fire earlier on Wednesday.
The aircraft flew to the area at the request of the Turkish Cypriot side, which arrived in the Republic of Cyprus through the UN.
Helicopters from Turkey and the British Bases are also operating in the big fire.
The “Minister of Rural Development and Natural Resources”, Dursun Oguz, speaking to “Bayrak” said that with the strong winds blowing in the area, on Wednesday afternoon, the fire was moving west, in the direction of the occupied village “Madres”. As a result, firefighters were redirected to the area.
Mr Oguz said he could not predict when Wednesday afternoon the fire could be brought under control.
Meanwhile, speaking to the illegal “Birak”, the “chairman of the Disaster and Emergency Committee”, Huseyin Jahitolgu, announced that in the afternoon On Wednesday, 1 helicopter from Turkey, 2 helicopters from the British Bases and two firefighting aircraft of the Republic of Cyprus intervened in the big fire in Kandara.
For the same issue, Ismet Korukolgu , the “Deputy Foreign Minister” confirmed to “Bayrak” the news that earlier the Turkish side requested assistance from the Republic of Cyprus through the UN.
