The CCCI requests a suspension of increases at the end of the Limassol port

Insider / ΚΥΠΕ

The CCCI requests the suspension of the increases in the charges in the port of Limassol until February 20, in order for the Ministry of Transport to work out the various alternatives, in a letter sent on January 26 to the three management companies.

In today's announcement, the CCCI welcomes the intention of the Government to work out a comprehensive and workable proposal to resolve the issue.

According to the CCCI, one of the proposals suggested by the chamber, since this can be legally implemented, concerns the possibility of waiving all the revenue that the state will have from any increases that the port management companies intend to impose. The percentage of the State amounts to 63%.

He notes that the competent port development team of the Ministry of Transport has already prepared some scenarios and suggestions that will be discussed with the Attorney General, the Assistant Attorney General and the Ministry of Finance, so that any decisions are legally and procedurally correct.

“In order to give time to the Ministry of Transport to work out various alternatives to resolve the issue, the CCCI sent a letter on January 26, 2022 to all three management companies asking them to suspend the start of any increases until February 20, 2022.” reports the Chamber.
