The CCCI requests three facilities for business

Theano Thiopoulou

The CCCI proposes three targeted measures to the Minister of Finance in order to alleviate the companies in order to keep them alive, to strengthen their liquidity and to prevent redundancies. The general secretary of the CCCI Marios Tsiakkis, in the letter he sent last week to Konstantinos Petridis, acknowledges that the state has proceeded to support the business world and lists some targeted interventions for the business. The Cyprus Chamber proposes in general terms, the restoration of the measure for gradual repayment of VAT and various taxes as well as support of wage costs to companies.

“We understand that the financial capabilities of the state as a result of the generous support of the previous two years are limited. “However, we consider it necessary for the state to take timely targeted interventions to alleviate business in order to in turn keep them alive while reducing the risk of layoffs,” said the secretary general.

The measures proposed by the Cyprus Chamber are:

Φορά Restoration of the measure for gradual repayment of VAT to the state to the standards applied in 2020 and 2021 for the quarters ending 31/12/2021, 31/01/2022, 28/02/2022 and 31/03/2022.

● Restoration of the measure for gradual payment / payment of various taxes / contributions to the state (Social Security, other fees and taxes) for a period of 6 months.

. Targeted support of wage costs to companies that are proven to record a significant reduction in their turnover compared to 2021.

In the letter to the Minister of Finance, Mr. Tsiakkis states “the CCCI is following with particular concern the developments in relation to the pandemic and the negative effects it brings to the smooth operation of many sectors of the economy. “These effects threaten the viability of several companies and, consequently, the ability to maintain their jobs and pay their obligations to the state.”
