In the second fortnight of March, most likely in the last week of the month, it is expected, according to information from KYPE, to complete the drafting of the interim conclusion of the Research Committee of the exceptional Naturalization of Foreign Investors and Entrepreneurs.
After the drafting of the interim conclusion, it will be given to the Attorney General of the Republic, George Savvidis, who appointed the four-member Investigative Committee, to study it and decide whether to give instructions for criminal or other investigation.
According to KYPE, the interim report will cover the examination of about 50% of the naturalization files and will include the conclusions of the Research Committee on high and low risk naturalizations as well as some group naturalizations. Under investigation by Research are more than 3,500 files, relating to more than 6,000 naturalizations.
The President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, also testified before the Commission. Around 6 billion euros were channeled into the Cypriot economy from the naturalizations.
The Commission is investigating the exceptional naturalization of foreign entrepreneurs and investors and the Cyprus Investment Program from 2007 until August 17, 2020, the date of publication of the new legal framework.
The President of the Investigative Committee is the former President of the Supreme Court of Myron Nikolatos and members are the Financial Commissioner Pavlos Ioannou, the Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission Dimitra Kalogirou and the Assistant Auditor General Kyriakos Kyriakou.
