The CYENS Center of Excellence and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture, Fisheries and Environmental Protection
The CYENS Center of Excellence held a press conference on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at its premises on Dimarchos Lellou Dimitriadis Street in Nicosia.
The purpose of the event was to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, regarding Agriculture, Fisheries and Environmental Protection, between the CYENS Center of Excellence and the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. The memorandum was signed by the Mayor of Nicosia and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CYENS, Mr. Konstantinos Giorkatzis, and the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Petros Xenophontos.
The event was attended by officials and representatives of organizations and bodies that collaborate with the CYENS Center of Excellence, highlighting the importance of the memorandum and the goals to be achieved with said collaboration.
The CYENS Center of Excellence. It was established in 2018 as a non-profit organization, in the walled city of Nicosia, by securing a competitive proposal of the European Commission's Horizon 2020 funding program to support research and innovation. The coordinator of the project is the Municipality of Nicosia, with partners the 3 public universities of Cyprus, and the European scientific institutions University College London (UCL) and Max Planck Institute (MPI), while it is supported by the Republic of Cyprus. The Center is active in the areas of Interactive Media, Intelligent Systems and Emerging Technologies and conducts interdisciplinary and applied research in a wide range of disciplines.
