The CYENS Center of Excellence, in collaboration with EIT Food, organized the information event 'National Engagement Event on the EU Soil Mission – Cyprus', on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at The Classic Hotel in Nicosia.
The event was held in the framework of the NATI00NS project, with the aim of presenting the European mission 'A Soil Deal for Europe: towards the creation of 100 living labs and lighthouses' which promotes the transition to healthy soils by 2030 .
The action aimed to inform stakeholders about the implementation plan of the mission through the creation and funding of 100 Living Labs and Lighthouses. In addition, to present the formation of the interregional Living Labs groups in which the Cypriot ecosystem of professionals was invited to participate.
Presentations were made by the manager of the EIT Food project, Mrs. Paola Hafner, the Associate Professor and President of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science of the Cyprus University of Technology, Dr. Dimitri Tsalta, the Scientific Officer of European Missions of the Research and Innovation Foundation, Mrs. Myrto Anastasiadou and the PA4ALL Living Lab project manager and Mrs. Isidora Stojakic.
The CYENS Center of Excellence. It was established in 2018 as a non-profit organization, in the walled city of Nicosia, by securing a competitive proposal of the European Commission's Horizon 2020 funding program to support research and innovation. The coordinator of the project is the Municipality of Nicosia, with partners the 3 public universities of Cyprus, and the European scientific institutions University College London (UCL) and Max Planck Institute (MPI), while it is supported by the Republic of Cyprus. The Center is active in the areas of Interactive Media, Intelligent Systems and Emerging Technologies and conducts interdisciplinary and applied research in a wide range of disciplines.
