A competition for young soloists was announced on Monday by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation for 2024.
In its announcement, the Foundation states that the aim of the Competition is to give the stage to young soloists to showcase their talent, through their partnership as soloists, in concerts with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
According to the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in the first stage, the finalists of the competition will perform as soloists with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in one of two concerts for the general public entitled Kyprophony 1 – Young Soloist Competition, which will take place on 11 and 12 December of 2024 at the Pallas Theater in Nicosia, under the direction of the acclaimed conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe.
The finalists will be selected following an evaluation of the applicants by the Artistic Committee of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and concert conductor Charles Olivieri-Munroe.
Finalists will be notified by October 4 of 2024.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the end of the concert on December 12, 2024, winning as a prize an invitation to collaborate as a soloist with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra in series of Premiere concerts during the 2025/2026 season.
The winner will be chosen by the members of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra through a secret ballot, at the end of the general tests.
