In a written statement, Christos Christofias underlines that the non-appointment of a new Board of Directors One month and a half after the end of the term of the outgoing Council, the Agency has the effect of malfunctioning, while the implementation of programs aimed at the youth does not proceed, with the risk of even losing European funds.
Mr. Christofias emphasizes that a letter was sent today to the competent Minister of Education, Culture and Youth, with which AKEL requests information on the reason for this huge delay in the appointment of a new Board. and when it is expected to be appointed, so that the operation of ONEK can continue smoothly.
“Because of this delay, a number of decisions that should have already been taken remain pending,” said Mr. Christofias, who also states:
“We have all been living in our own skin for the last eight years, the painless policy pursued by the rulers at the expense of the new generation of our country. But we did not expect them to get to the point of leaving the semi-governmental organization, which supports our young people in many ways, especially in this difficult time. We consider this delay unacceptable and we call on the Anastasiadis government to finally assume its responsibilities and appoint a new Board of Directors. of ONEK as soon as possible “.
