On the anniversary of the Polytechnic uprising against the Athens Junta, the Pan-Cypriot Association of Democratic Resistance held a protest outside the House of Representatives, on the occasion of the decision to build a museum for George Griva, with state funding.

In a statement, the Association states that with the November 17 protest, it requested “to stop any attempt to pay tribute to the traitors of EOKA B' and Grivas”, noting that the construction of the museum with state funding “is a shame and an insult to the memory of the dead of the coup and the invasion”.

The Association notes that it condemns the parties that supported the government's proposal for the museum, expressing “huge disappointment […] for the attitude of the DIKO and EDEK parties, which with their positive vote, the specific fund was approved”. He also thanked the General Secretary of AKEL for his presence and support at the event, adding that he stands with “those forces that honor the heroes of the resistance and stand up against such actions”.

The resistance world he will not stop defending “historical truth, legitimacy and democracy” he says and concludes by calling the people to be alert ahead of the presidential elections, urging them to send a “message of progressive change” and not choose “those who justify the coup and sell out the our homeland”.
