The Department of Public Works is proceeding with works on the highways, informing the public of the date and time they will be carried out.
Specifically, it refers to the closure of the entrance from Viomichaniki Idaliou to the existing Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Limassol, removal of the temporary concrete safety barriers and construction of horizontal markings on the Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Nicosia and sweeping works in sections of the Nicosia – Limassol highway and the Limassol Bypass Road.
In today's announcement, the Engineering Project Office of the Nicosia Ring Road, Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that, on Friday 3/3/2023, from 09:00 in the morning and for a period of two months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Ring Road Phase A1, the entrance from Idalio Industrial to the existing Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Limassol will be closed and traffic from Idalio to the Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Limassol will be diverted through the junction of Kotsiatis (Solomon Nurseries).
Also, during the execution of the above works, on the same day, Friday 3/3/2023, from 09:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon of the same day, the traffic of the Nicosia – Limassol highway which being carried out in the two left lanes (slow and medium) will be shifted to the two right lanes (medium and fast) for a period of two months in order to complete the work.
It also announces that from Monday 6/3/2023 until Friday 10/3/2023, from 10:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the following day, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Ring Road, Phase A1, works will be carried out to remove the temporary concrete safety parapets as well as the construction of horizontal markings on the existing Nicosia – Limassol highway in the direction of Nicosia, from the exit to Halepianes to the Latsion weighing station.
During the execution of the above works, traffic on the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia will be conducted in one lane instead of two along a length of approximately two kilometers on the western side of the existing highway.
During the rest of the hours the traffic of the existing highway from Limassol to Nicosia will be conducted in two traffic lanes.
In addition, it announces that from Friday 3/3/2023 until Sunday 5/3/2023, between the hours of 09:00 – 16:00, sweeping works will be carried out on sections of the Nicosia – Limassol highway and the Limassol Bypass Road, from the Muttayakas junction to the uneven junction of the new Limassol Hospital .
During the execution of the works, traffic arrangements will be applied, such as the emergency lane (slope) of the highway/Bypass Road, will be partially closed for a length of 200m. approximately in one direction only, at any time and one traffic lane of the connecting roads of the roundabouts, will be partially closed for a length of 100m. approximately one way only at all times and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
The Department of Public Works apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience this will cause and asks the public to be understanding and complies with the temporary road markings and the instructions of the Police.
