The disproportionate burden for Cyprus due to migration flows is placed by the PtD on the European Council – Extraordinary Meeting in Brussels

The disproportionate burden borne by the Republic of Cyprus, due to the greatly increased immigration flows, will be pointed out by the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, during the extraordinary Summit of the European Council, which is being held today and tomorrow in Brussels, highlighting, at the same time, the instrumentalization of immigration from Turkey.

Immigration is the main topic of the Summit, in the context of which ways to deal with it will be discussed.

The European Council will also discuss the developments in Ukraine and issues related to the Economy.

The Minister of the Interior, Nikos Nouris, said yesterday that he is accompanying President Anastasiades to Brussels where today he will sign an agreement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for a first funding of the order of 13 million for the development of improvement projects with a total cost of 25 million euros at the Pournara first reception center.

On the eve or those in Brussels, Mr. Nouris will also negotiate the additional subsidy of the Republic of Cyprus for the purposes of providing support and assistance to Ukrainian refugees who are in our country.
