Not even the slightest thing has been done to remove the discrimination and unequal treatment they are charged with, say the farmers of West Nicosia, who as a reaction measure announced that they will cut off the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout with their agricultural vehicles on Sunday, September 10, 2023. The protest comes after the suspension of the blockade that was to take place on Sunday, August 20.
As stated in an announcement by the Coordinating Committee of Farmers of West Nicosia, the closure of the roundabout will last only for 10 minutes from 12.00 noon to 12.10 again “as a sign of good faith and responsibility, towards our fellow citizens whom we do not want to inconvenience”.
The farmers of West Nicosia are appealing to the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, “to take the initiative to effectively solve the acute long-term problem that is literally exterminating” the farmers of this area in order to avoid an escalation of the measures with a protest on October 1.
The Coordinating Committee of Farmers of West Nicosia calls on all professional and non-professional farmers to participate en masse in the protest to claim equal treatment and remove the inequality that concerns us all, as the Committee states.< /p>
It is noted that the gathering of agricultural vehicles will take place at 11.00 am at the Akakiou Packing House, while the march to the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout will begin at 11.30 am, accompanied by the Police.
Finally, the Coordinating Committee of Farmers of West Nicosia apologizes to the drivers for the ten-minute inconvenience and asks for their understanding and support for their just request.
