With a heavy agenda, theParliamentary Finance Committee is meeting in its official first session – after the new government took office.
Although a multitude of issues will be discussed before the committee today, however, what stands out are the funds, as the MPs – members will be asked to decide whether more than 35 million euros will be released for the needs of Ministries, Deputy Ministries and other Departments of the Government.
Indeed, the largest fund for which release is requested is that of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, as the authorities request more than €17.1 million which will be allocated to enlightenment campaigns. Most of this money, specifically €11 million, will be allocated to partnerships with tour operators and airlines.with the aim of penetrating tourist markets. As the Deputy Ministry notes in its explanatory note to the Commission, the existing contracts have an expected cost of €9 million, while the new contracts with airlines have an expected cost of €2 million. At the same time, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism requests another €5 million, which concerns expenses for advertising campaigns through Google and Facebook.
Let us note that a request will also be made before the Commission for the release of a €3 million fund regarding the purchase of 35 passenger saloonsfor officials (€1.7 million), the purchase of 32 electric saloons for officials (€1.07 million) and the supply of three agricultural tractors (€240,000).

Requests for an exemption from the ban on filling vacancies will also be put before the Commission, with what makes a particular impression being the request of the Ministry of Finance which requests the unfreezing as a whole378 positions, of which 373 are for promotion positions.
At the same time before the Committee will also be submitted a request from the Deputy Ministry of Research which requests a position of senior Research Officer strong>. As noted, this is a new position in the Administration of the Deputy Ministry of Research and Innovation (YEKPSP), which is included in the 2023 budget and was created for the smooth operation of the YEKPSP Cyber Security Directorate.
