The autopsy was performed on the body of the 64-year-old who died yesterday, after his arrest in Nicosia, by Coroner Angeliki Papetta in the presence on behalf of the family of the medical examiner Marios Matsakis.
According to information from the Cyprus Times the man's death was caused by a myocardial infarction on the basis of atherosclerotic coronary disease. At the same time, samples were also sent for toxicology tests.
Speaking to the Cyprus Times, the medical examiner Marios Matsakis said that the question is whether the pressure of the arrest he added to this heart attack, “but it is something that we are not in a position to know and the competent authorities will decide”.
According to Mr. Matsakis, the family has already filed a complaint with the authority investigating claims and complaints against of the police.
