The next steps towards the expansion and deepening of the cooperation between the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) and the Municipality of Larnaca, were announced today by the Rector of TEPAK, Professor Panagiotis Zafeiris and the Mayor of Larnaca, Mr. Andreas Vyres, who at the Complex of Creativity and Culture, in Larnaca.
Speaking at the press conference, the Rector of TEPAK referred, among other things, to the common interest “to find a way to offer parallel programs of postgraduate programs already offered in Limassol and Larnaca, research and other cooperation with the research center of excellence CMMI, offering programs for b learning and start a discussion for future creation of new study programs and research and/or academic entities of TEPAK in the city of Larnaca “.
“Today we are taking the next step in this cooperation between us, we are proceeding with the announcement of the offer from September 2022 of the first study program of TEPAK in the city of Larnaca, of the postgraduate program MSc in Shipping and Finance”, pointed out Panagiotis Zafeiris.
“The program, which is already offered with great success in Limassol”, added the Rector, “will be offered in Larnaca at the same time, facilitating interested students from the province of Larnaca as well as the provinces of Nicosia and free Famagusta.” Specifically, the lessons will take place in this beautiful space provided by the Municipality and which we will configure properly, to ensure a quality learning environment “. & Nbsp;
He further stated that “we are also starting, together with the Municipality of Larnaca, an effort to secure a number of scholarships for this study program in cooperation with local actors and companies that wish to support our effort in practice”, noting that “our goal is to follow the offer in Larnaca and other postgraduate programs of TEPAK in a similar way “.
At the same time, he continued, “we have agreed to set up a joint working group to promote the joint actions that will be launched immediately, such as the lifelong learning programs I mentioned, which will include seminars, lectures and short workshops on cutting-edge and professional subjects, but also discussion of prospects for the creation of new programs and research and/or academic entities of TEPAK in the city of Larnaca “. & nbsp;
“The working group, which will include academic and administrative staff of the University and the Municipality, will study all issues related to the prospects of operating an academic School in the city of Larnaca. “From the first contacts we have made, it seems that there are opportunities and it is important that there is a will on both sides to take advantage of them”, concluded Professor Zafeiris.
For his part, the Mayor of Larnaca, expressed his warm thanks and congratulations “to the Council, the Senate and especially to the friend Rector of TEPAK Panagiotis Zafeiris, because they are governed by a progressive vision with a broad vision and extroverted character, thus leading TEPAK to a continuous creative course of its development and recognition both in Cyprus and internationally “.
