In relation to the Turkish violations in Varosia, the Foreign Minister states that the Security Council reaffirms the Presidential Statement of the Security Council of 9 October 2020, expresses strong concern about the developments and calls for the withdrawal of illegal actions, while reaffirming the relevant resolutions with special at 550 and at 789.

“It is also important that in relation to Varos, the Resolution reiterates that no action should be taken that is incompatible with the above-mentioned resolutions and calls for actions to be avoided that undermine the prospects for a peaceful solution,” he said. .

He also said the resolution “reiterates its call for a reduction in tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean and emphasizes the need to resolve disputes in accordance with international law, which is a clear message to Turkey”.

The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency's ongoing inspections in Iran, that it monitor Syria's compliance with “the steps required by the IAEA Board”, adding that “the UN Security Council's responsibility for UNFICYP in the neutral zone is respected”.

Also, the resolution, according to the Foreign Minister, “reiterates the call to the occupying army to restore the status quo in Strovilia and reaffirms that the freedom of movement of the Peacekeeping Force should be respected.”

“It also calls for strengthening the co-operation of all parties with the CMP, mainly through the provision of full access without delay to all areas and the timely response to requests for archival information on potential burial sites, which is a clear message to Turkey,” he added.

Finally, the Foreign Ministry states that the resolution “also refers to the need to further promote WTO, reopen the crossing points in a way that prevents the spread of the pandemic, as well as the need for greater participation of women, youth and civil society in promotion of reunification as well as to further support and enhance the effectiveness of the Technical Committees “.
