The foreign ministers of Turkey and Syria will meet tomorrow Wednesday in Moscow, in the presence of their Russian and Iranian counterparts, for the first time since the outbreak of civil war in 2011, he announced Ankara.

The aim of this quadrilateral is “an exchange of views on the normalization of relations between Turkey and Syria”, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in its statement.

"Our goal is to achieve lasting stability and peace in Syria, to cooperate in the fight against the YPG/PKK terrorist organization that wants the division of Syria and threatens us from there, and to ensure that Syrians in Turkey return to their homes , voluntarily and safely”, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, according to Anadolu Agency.

Cavusoglu's two-day visit to Moscow will begin on Tuesday. On the sidelines of the quadripartite meeting, he is expected to have bilateral contacts as well.

Last December, the defense ministers and intelligence chiefs of Turkey, Russia and the Syrian regime met in Moscow and agreed to continue contacts. for the security of Syria and the wider region. Iran has also been included in these talks.

Since 2016, Turkey has launched several military operations in northern Syria, mainly against the Kurdish People's Protection Forces (YPG), an organization it considers an offshoot of Kurdistan Workers' Party. The YPG is the core component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), US allies in the fight against the Islamic State.
