The strong will of the Government is to achieve a fair, functional and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem that will restore human rights in our country and in the effort it invests significantly in education, the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Athina Michailidou said on Friday.
Mrs. Michailidou was speaking at an event organized by the Municipality of Morphou in Limassol to honor high school graduates from Morphou, first place athletes in the All-Cypriot Games, teachers and winners of the visual arts and poetry competition announced by the Municipality.< /p>
According to Mrs. Michailidou, the significant activity of the residents of Morphou after the displacement was a key factor in the reconstruction of the state and its evolutionary path after the Turkish invasion, adding that their discrimination and contribution are the best example for young people and our new ones, since they indicate the value of fighting to overcome obstacles and difficulties.
“We are continuing and intensifying this great effort fifty years after the Turkish invasion, which, in violation of international law, keeps our homeland, a European state, a member country of the United Nations, divided,” continued the Minister, adding that in in this context, tonight's event is “a first-class opportunity to once again unite our voices and express our common will for the liberation and reunification of our Cyprus”.
“The strong will of the government is to reach a just, functional and sustainable solution that will restore human rights in our country, giving the opportunity to all its legal residents to live again in conditions of security, peace and prosperity”, he stressed, adding that in this effort the government invests significantly in education, aiming to build an educational system that will promote creative and productive learning, as well as the intellectual development of our children and young people.
“In your faces we see the Cyprus we dream of, the Cyprus of inspiration, development, creation, pride and self-confidence. I heartily congratulate you on your efforts and successes. Continue to move decisively towards the achievement of your goals and fight to live the life you have dreamed of,” she added, addressing the awardees. May the school halls of Morphou be filled with students and teachers again, and the streets and alleys of the beautiful town be flooded with people again”, concluded Mrs. Michailidou.
