Under the auspices of the First Lady of Cyprus, Philippas Karseras Christodoulidis
On Sunday December 10, 2023 will be held in Nicosia the Great Charity Marathon of Nicosia “Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2023”, with Marathon, Half Marathon, 7.7 Miles (12,400m.), 5km races. (individual and corporate race) and 1 mile (1,600 m.) and which is addressed to all citizens and especially to the young students of the educational community in the context of the message of social sports, sports of participation and lifelong exercise.
A Marathon organized and financed exclusively by the Athanassios Ktoridis Foundationwith strong elements of the National social contribution, supporting the Alkinos Artemiou Foundation for children with oncological and hematological diseases, the Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Heart Disease, the charity organization ‹Mikori Heroes, the Municipal Multicultural Center of Nicosia, the Pancypriot Autistic Association, the Pan-Cypriot Committee of Mothers – Relatives of National Guard PEMSE and the Independent Social Support Agency.
This year «Quantum Nicosia < strong>Marathon 23″has been placed under the auspices of the honorable Mrs. Filippas Karseras Christodoulidis, who, as she also mentioned, during the Press Conference, for the announcement of this year's Marathon, is and will be her first concern for children and teenagers, who will they always have her support and love. She also added that within her program as First Lady is the protection of the environment.
During the Press Conference, held on 27.9.23 at the New City Hall of Nicosia, the Director of Events of the Foundation “Athanassios Ktoridis” Mr. Hatzisavvas presented the program that will surround the “Quantum Nicosia Marathon strong> 23”. Specifically, on Sunday 26/11 in the lower part of Liberty Square, in the place where it was held last year, a 3-hour sports program will be held by Les Miles which will combine music with movement. On the same day, representatives of the “Athanassios Ktoridis” Foundation will be present at the venue., who will help those who want to register for the marathon races. In the meantime, runners will start at the same venue, who will run through the city as training but also as a way to get to know Nicosia under the guidance of Mrs. Pola Hatzipapas.
It is worth noting that this year the Registration and Delivery Center of BIB numbers will be open on Friday, December 8 at 10:00 – 17:00, Saturday, December 9 at 10:00 – 17:00 and Sunday, December 10 at 06:00 – 12:00: 00 at the Archaeological Museum of Nicosia. On the same days, visitors will be able to participate in guided tours that will take place under the planning of the Superintendent of Antiquities, Mrs. Eftychia Kaila.
At the same time, another initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Association of Spouses of Diplomats and Cypriots), is the organization of the International Bazaar, which takes place every year. The International Bazaar will be held on the day of the grand event of the “Quantumn Nicosia Marathon 2023”and so far 15 embassies have signed up for this charity bazaar, which will offer food and other products from their countries. The Embassy Representatives have been informed that their proceeds will be transferred electronically to the institutions supported by the Athanassios Ktoridis Foundation and this will be done with the same procedure followed by runners and other people who would like to donate.
Then Ms. Apostoloumi, Technical Advisor and inspirer of the Environmental Program, announced the actions of the «Run program- Donate – Protect” and will be implemented in three guiding axes of protection, sustainable use and sustainable development (Forest Environment, Recycling Materials and Transportation).
It is worth noting that within the framework of this environmental program, tree planting will take place on 18.11.23 in the Forest Park of Athalassa with the cooperation of the Department of Forestry. Finally, Ms. Apostoloumi announced the excellent collaboration with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and AIMS, a collaboration which promotes «QuantumNicosia Marathon 2023″, at the international level.
Mr. Papapostolou, Racing Director of “Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2023” taking the floor, after thanking all the participants, added that all routes are designed according to the regulations, ideal for runners who want to push their limits. The marathon route passes through important landmarks of the capital. Most of the route is outside the urban environment, passing through the Athalassa Park and the facilities of the State University of Cyprus.
Finally, the Director of the “Athanassios Ktoridis” Foundation, Ms. Kouros, after thanking those who contribute to this entire organization of the “Quantum Nicosia Marathon 2023”and which is a philanthropic festival, emphasized that volunteering is man's greatest need for solidarity. In closing, she added that together with the group of volunteer friends who offer to organize this charity celebration this year, the Special Olympics team is also coming to help.
