The Municipality of Limassol is the first municipality, which from today fully implements the electronic receipt and issuance of urban planning permits and building permits, through the “Hippodamos” system.
In an announcement, the Municipality of Limassol states that today a step is taken towards the completion of its actions for the transition to a smart city by adopting the electronic system “Hippodamos”, the first of its kind that operates in a municipality.
In recent years, he emphasizes, his main goal has been the adoption of new technologies in its operation and communication with the citizen, in order to modernize and operate more efficiently and at the same time to better serve the citizen. Within the next three years, he adds, projects and actions are expected to be completed, with budgeted costs exceeding 10m euros, he added.
It is also pointed out that the Municipality of Limassol has already adopted technology functions in its services, such as the smart application “Citizen of Limassol” for direct communication of the citizen with the services of the Municipality for problem solving, three-dimensional tours of culture, the completion of 50% of upgrading of street lighting to intelligent lighting of LED technology, controlled by a central platform and the adoption and use of an electronic signature for the delivery of approved licenses.
It is added that the computer system of the Association of Municipalities “Evagoras” is being implemented, which will computerize most of the functions implemented by the Municipality, with the aim of holistically changing the procedures applied today.
Actions for the development of infrastructure of smart controlled parking spaces and the upgrade of the internal infrastructure of the Municipality with new network infrastructure and new software “Office 365” are also in the bidding stage.
In addition, the development of Geoinformation Data System (GIS), training of staff for the use of the system and the digitization of data of the Municipality, for integration in the new computer “Evagoras” and in the Geoinformation Data System (GIS), are in the study and preparation phase. in the framework of Integrated Limassol Development (ALL).
