The issue of the Pandora Papers is being brought before the Parliamentary Institutions Committee today, under the weight of the revelations of big media abroad about the activities of “the offshore President”, as they now call President Anastasiadis, but also of the European Parliament resolution which calls the competent Authorities “to analyze the data sets of the International Association of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) and to launch thorough investigations into any irregularities revealed in the Pandora Papers ».
It is noted that one of the names mentioned in the resolution is that of President Anastasiadis. It is pointed out that AKEL had requested the registration of the issue for discussion in the Committee on Institutions, before the resolution of the European Parliament. However, it was rejected because it was voted against by the DISY team and Andreas Themistokleous (former DISY, formerly ELAM, now independent) and with the abstention of DIPA.
Nevertheless, after the resolution of the European Parliament – which was also voted against by the two MEPs of DISY – the ruling party turned under the weight of the outcry of society
