Severe weather conditions continue to prevail in Cyprus, as a result of the torrential rains that fall flooding roads, estates, houses, hotels both in the free province of Famagusta and in the province of Larnaca.

Due to the accumulation of water, the roundabout at Larnaca Airport which was opened to traffic shortly after 10am. 

Fire Service and Police are on foot to respond to calls for help.

Members of the Fire Service were called to intervene in 122 incidents due to torrential rains in the free province of Famagusta.

The incidents concern pumping water from basements of hotels, opening rain gutters, saving lives, towing vehicles and pumping water from basements of houses. .

In Larnaca, there are ongoing Fire Department operations in the Dromolaxia-Meneou area. The calls involve pumping water from houses, towing vehicles and saving lives.

There is an accumulation of water on the road under the level crossing despite the Panorio center in Dromolaxia, as a result of which the road has become dangerous.

Larnaca Province

Archbishop Makarios avenue, in Meneu and the uneven crossing beyond the Panorio center in Dromolaxia, are closed due to water accumulation. Also, the road from the POINT kiosk to Meneu is closed.

Also, dense fog is observed in the areas of Vavatsinias, Odos and Lefkara.

Open but slippery are the roads Pedoulas – Prodromou, Prodromou – Lemythou, Pedoulas – Moutulla, Pedoula- PINEWOOD – Kakopetrias, Kakopetrias – Coals, Astromerite – Troodos.

Province of Famagusta

Cones have been installed on the Protaras to Cabo Greco avenue, due to the road surface giving way in two parts of the road.

Troodos area

The roads leading to Troodos are open to all vehicles.
