The Limessou Municipality attributes the leakage of water into the sea to damage caused to a central well, while characterizing the incident as an “isolated incident“.
In its announcement, the Municipality of Limassol, on the occasion of yesterday's publication of photos, depicting water from pipelines of rainwater ending up in the sea of Limassol, informs the citizens that “this is an isolated incident and concerns the leakage of irrigation water of the central island which came from damage to a central well on 28th October street on the beach”.
The announcement states that after the leak was detected, Municipality officials immediately went to the scene and repaired the damage (10:10 leak detection – 11:00 damage repair).
“The Municipality of Limassol assures the public that The Mayor, the Municipal Council and the competent services of the Municipality are making every possible effort in cooperation with the competent Deputy Ministry of Shipping, to deal with the unacceptable and alarming phenomenon of sea pollution,” the announcement concludes.
