The majority of primary school teachers were in favor of taking dynamic measures, as mentioned in an announcement issued by POED, shortly after 17:00 on Saturday. Earlier, the Pancyprian General Assembly of the Organization was held, in relation to the next steps of reaction to the measures decided by the Council of Ministers to stop the pandemic in schools and, in particular, the “test to stay”.

“The Pancyprian General Assembly of POED was held today, Saturday, January 15, successfully, taking into account that it took place under very difficult conditions, due to the outbreak of the pandemic.
Despite the objective difficulties, the participation of colleagues was satisfactory and representative of their will. Respecting the safety and health protocols, but also the democratic procedures, the members of the POED went to the polls and gave by a huge majority the authorization to the Board of the POED, to take dynamic measures, in case this is deemed absolutely necessary, in order to to prevent any unsubstantiated separation between Special, Pre-Primary and Primary Education, to claim the guarantee of safety and health conditions in our school units and to demand their orderly and smooth operation.
We especially thank our colleagues for their presence today at the provincial polling stations and for the trust they have once again shown in the Organization. It is very important the fact that the colleagues, with a percentage of 96.46%, authorized the Board. of the Organization to manage in the best possible way, the efforts made to manage the situation and to take any measures deemed necessary in the course.
The Organization emphasizes that it will use responsibly the authorization of the colleagues, in order to ensure safety and health conditions but also the smooth operation of all school units. “
