The Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipandella, and the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee are meeting tomorrow, in order to evaluate the epidemiological picture, while the experts are expected to put suggestions on the table for new, more stringent measures, which will be used -if and if- condition worsens.

As a competent source stated in KYPE during tomorrow's meeting of the Minister of Health with the epidemiologists, the situation will be evaluated in the current phase, to note that “the next 24 hours are critical”.

He also said that the Ministry of Health will closely monitor the epidemiological picture in the coming days and will decide accordingly whether the measures will be tightened or not.

The same source emphasizes that the tightening of the measures is something that is not considered at the moment, while he notes that less than a week has passed since the new stricter measures were taken (January 5) and it takes time for them to pay off.

He also states that at this stage the situation is stable and manageable in public hospitals, however, he adds that tomorrow will be put on the table suggestions for more stringent measures, in case the situation goes away and there is a rapid increase in hospitalizations.

The imposition of a night traffic ban is excluded

Answering a relevant question of KYPE, the same source stated that for the time being no scenario is being discussed, which concerns the movement of citizens.

He also said that the possibility of imposing a night traffic ban is ruled out at the moment.

“The situation will be constantly assessed and if there is a sharp increase in patients in the ICU and deemed necessary, the Council of Ministers will convene for decisions,” he concluded.

New measures in force to limit the spread of COVID-19

In the meantime, it is recalled that as of today, the new measures against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic came into force.

Based on the decree of the Minister of Health, published on January 6, the teleworking rate is set at up to 50% of the staff of each company or organization in the service sector as well as for the public and wider public sector.

Businesses that employ up to 10 people are excluded from the measure of telework, while in essential services the respective Supervisor regulates the distance work, according to the needs of the Service.

Furthermore, a maximum of 200 people is set for restaurants, entertainment centers, music and dance centers, weddings and baptisms, in compliance with health protocols and the maximum number of people per square meter in force.

Also, from today the dance ends, while the maximum number of people per table is set at 8 people.

In addition, from January 10, accommodation and visits to hotels / tourist accommodation will only be allowed to persons who have completed their vaccination program or who have started their vaccination program and the time period required to receive the 2nd or later has not passed. of the 3rd dose of vaccine.
