The meeting of the secretary general ended a while ago. of AKEL Andros Kyprianou with the President of the Republic at the presidential palace where they discussed, among other things, the issues of the decrees against the pandemic and the demonstration last Saturday.
In his statements after the meeting, the secretary general of AKEL stated that only two parameters cannot be taken into account. Certainly, as he said, public health is an important parameter that must be taken into account, but at the same time we have to think about the psychological problems that have multiplied due to the confinement of citizens at home.
He also stressed the importance of the economic factor and the effort that must be made so that people are not led into poverty.
We should discuss, he said, the political parties with the President of the Republic and the epidemiological group for the creation of social activities such as music scenes, theaters and political actions.
Dealing with the pandemic should not restrict freedom of expression, Andros Kyprianou concluded.
