A total of 28 years will be completed on Sunday, August 11, since the murders of Tasos Isaak and Solomos Solomou, who were murdered by the Turks in the area of the dead zone in Derenia.
Tasos Isaak who participated in an anti-occupation event on August 11, 1996 , went to help a Greek Cypriot who was being beaten by the Turks in the dead zone in Deryneia, when he himself fell to the ground and was attacked with stones, clubs and crowbars until he died.
Solomos Solomou, three days later , on August 14, 1996, the day of his cousin Tasos Isaac's funeral, he was murdered by a Turkish settler "minister" of the pseudo-state.
On the occasion of the completion of 28 years since the murders of Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomos, the "Isaac-Solomos Memorial Initiative", on Saturday August 10, as every year, marches from all the cities of free Cyprus to the Paralimni cemetery where are the tombs of the two heroes.
From Paphos the march will start from the Paphos Stadium parking lot at 5:30 p.m., from Nicosia from the West Stand of the GSP at 6:30 p.m., from Limassol from the Agios Athanasios Industrial area parking lot also at 6:30 p.m., from Larnaca from Rizoelia roundabout (despite the Abdellerou exit) at 19.00 and from Famagusta from the Ayia Napa roundabout at 19.30.
The motorcyclists will go to the Paralimni cemetery and at 20.30 in the evening there will be a modest event in memory of Isaac – Solomos.
On Sunday, August 11, it will be 28 years since the murder of the two young men and in the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios in Paralimni, their national-religious memorial will be held after the Divine Liturgy, presided over by the Bishop of Naples, Porphyrios. .
A memorial speech will be delivered by Adamos Sergiou, Principal of the Lyceum of Paralimni, while the government will be represented by Nikolas Ioannidis, Deputy Minister of Immigration and International Protection.
After the memorial service, a trisagio will be held and laying wreaths on the graves of the two heroes in the Paralimni cemetery.
