The merger of the Municipality of Aradippou with the Municipalities of Larnaca, Livadia & Oroklini is approved by the Citizens' Initiative

The most correct choice is the unification of the Municipality of Aradippou with the Municipalities of Larnaca, Livadia and the Community of Oroklini, the Citizens' Initiative states in a letter to the parliamentary parties and party leaders.

< p>In the letter, the Citizens' Initiative sets out its views and concerns regarding the future of the Municipality of Aradippou in the context of the Local Government reform, and states that the only proposal submitted to the Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs by the Ministry of Interior provides for merger of the Municipality of Aradippou with the Municipalities of Larnaca, Livadia and the community of Oroklini. This proposal is a product of study based on all relevant factors and data & # 8221 ;. Unfortunately, the Citizens' Initiative reports, & # 8220; at the last meeting of the Parliamentary Interior Committee, a proposal was submitted for the unification of Aradippou-Troulloi-Kellia, overturning the data that the members of the Committee had before them & # 8221 ;.

The Citizens' Initiative, & # 8220; reminds that the Municipality of Aradippou does not differ geographically from the Municipalities of Larnaca and Livadia. Also, it already co-exists with the said Municipalities in the relevant Sewerage and Water Supply Councils. The potential for common development is enormous, a fact that will positively and effectively contribute to the lives of citizens & # 8221 ;. On the contrary, it is stated that & # 8220; the merging of the Municipality of Aradippou with two smaller communities and the burden of the Municipal Services with them, will be an obstacle to the development but also to the viability of the new Municipality.

In the letter, The Citizens' Initiative states that the Plenary Session of the Parliament should take into account all the relevant factors before concluding, together with the fact that Larnaca is already developing and growing, with new projects and imminent large investments, and Aradippou can be an integral and important part of this development within a single Municipality with Larnaca that will be able to offer everything to tourism, research and innovation, with continuous development, with an airport, a new port-marina, residential development and with additional agricultural and craft areas.
