Communication from the Ministry of Transport after a meeting of the Minister with the Department of Postal Services
At a meeting at the Ministry of Transport, held under the leadership of the Department of Postal Services, under the Minister of Transport Alexis Vafeadis, the future of the Cyprus Post in the very demanding and competitive postal environment was discussed and opinions and suggestions were recorded with the aim of both the effective utilization of the potential of the Cyprus Post and the improvement of services that are offered to the public.
A statement from the Ministry of Transport, relayed by the GTP, states that the discussion was held taking into account the social role played by the Cyprus Post as a universal postal service provider.
It is added that the possibility of using the Department of Postal Services to provide expanded state services to citizens, especially in rural areas, through the institution of Citizen Centers (KEPO) was further discussed.
It is also stated that the results of the discussion will be presented to the Postal Steering Committee and then the matter will be handled by the Interministerial Committee, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works and its members the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
