The Ministry announces measures for accuracy, focusing on vulnerable people – Towards a new electricity subsidy extension – On the table suggestions and proposals
The Ministerial Council is meeting today in an extraordinary session, in order to discuss and approve a new package of measures to relieve citizens from punctuality, with prominent the new extension of the tiered electricity subsidy.
According to information transmitted by the Cyprus News Agency, the measures do not include the reduction of the consumption tax on fuel, which expires at the end of the month (it was extended on February 21 until the end of March). On the contrary, the scaled subsidy on electricity prices and the universal subsidy of the increase for vulnerable consumers are expected to be listed by the end of June.
In the proposals that will be put on the Cabinet table, it also includes the extension of measures announced on February 21 by the President of the Republic himself for vulnerable groups (who received benefits from the Deputy Ministry of Welfare), as well as the extension of the zero and reduced VAT rate in basic goods, also until the end of June.
It is recalled that the fiscal impact of the previous package of measures (including the extension of the reduction of consumption tax on fuel for one month) amounted to €60 million .
Based on the same sources, one more measure related to trafficking allowance recipients will be considered by the Deputy Ministry of Welfare.
