The Health Insurance Organization will not pay for the referral of patients to hospitals outside GESS, but the relevant fund will be included in the budget of the Ministry of Health. This was agreed, according to information from “F” during yesterday's meeting held under the President of the Republic in the presence of the Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipandelas and the leadership of the OAU.
Specifically, the issue was raised to Nikos Anastasiadis from the chairman of the board of directors of OAY Thomas Antoniou, who in essence reiterated the firm position of the Organization, that it is not possible to pay from the budget of GESSY hospitals that are not included in the System.

The President of the Republic asked for the opinion of the Minister of Health, who did not disagree with the request of Mr. Antonios, as a result of which a preliminary agreement was reached between them. It is recalled that the demand of the director general of the Ministry of Health for payment of the amount that the ministry had spent in previous years for sending patients to hospitals outside GESS, had caused several reactions from the Organization, while the specific amount was included in € 150 million demanded by the Ministry of Health from the OAY. & nbsp;
In his statements after the meeting, the Government Spokesman, Marios Pelekanos, stated that “the progress of the implementation of the government program from 2013 in the pillar” Health for All “was reviewed and the planning for the implementation of future actions, policies and infrastructure projects was evaluated. especially those included in the “Cyprus Tomorrow” program. In addition, he stated that the President of the Republic gave instructions to monitor the situation, in order to ensure “the continuous upgrade of the GESS, which is assessed as the biggest reform for the benefit of all citizens since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus.
