The Department of Public Works has announced works in the next period of time on the Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol highways, during which the tangent will be partially closed with the central island strip.
In the announcement broadcast by the IGT, it is stated that in the period 28/08/2024–12/09/2024, from Monday to Thursday, between the hours of 9:00–15:00, irrigation works will be carried out by the Department of Forestry in the central islands of the highways of the province of Larnaca. Specifically, the works will be carried out in the period 28/08/2024–10/09/2024, on the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout, and on the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Nisos, during the period 02/09/2024–12/09/2024, on the Larnaca-Kofinou highway, starting at 400m. before the Kalos Chorio roundabout until the exit to Kofinos.
The Department adds that during the execution of the works the lane adjacent to the central island of highway in both directions, approximately 1.5km each way.
The announcement also states that on Saturday 31/08/2024, between the hours of 4:00–10:00 in the morning, reflector washing works will be carried out on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway (A2), on the central island, in both directions until Athianou exit, as well as on the Nicosia-Limessos highway (A1), at the height of Kornos, on the central islet, in both directions and on Sunday 01/09/2024, between the hours of 4:00-10:00 in the morning, reflector washing works will be carried out on the Nicosia-Limassol highway (A1), from Kalispera lights to Pentaschinos, with the exception of the Kornos area.
On Saturday 07/09/2024, between the hours of 4:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., reflector washing works will be carried out on the Nicosia-Akaki highway (A9), on the central island, in both directions, on Sunday 8/9/2024, between the hours of 4:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., reflector washing operations will be carried out on the central island at Spyros Kyprianou (B22) and Griva Digeni (B18) Avenues, and in both directions. During the execution of the above works, the public is asked to use the left traffic lane.
It was further announced that from Monday 02/09/2024 until Thursday 05/09/2024, between the hours of 9:00–15:00, watering works of the plants of the central islands will be carried out by the Forestry Department, on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway (A2), from the junction with the Nicosia-Limesos highway to the junction of Lymbia. During the execution of the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. approximately each time, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
The Department of Public Works urges the public to be understanding and comply with the temporary road markings and the instructions of the Police.
