A new decree was issued today by the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, regarding the new relaxations, which will take effect next Monday, March 1, 2021.
According to the new decree, the operation of private and public primary schools, private and public kindergartens, nurseries, including pre-primary, special schools and special units of public schools is carried out with physical presence, while the operation of Lyceums and technical schools, including the evening and the corresponding classes of the private Secondary Schools will be conducted with physical presence from next Monday.
In the meantime, the operation of the gymnasiums and the corresponding classes of the private Secondary Schools will be carried out with distance education until March 7, 2021, while from March 8, 2021 it will be carried out with physical presence.
It is understood that the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, as the competent authority, may regulate the physical presence of teachers and other staff in public schools for the smooth operation of distance education until March 7, 2021, while the operation of public and Private Higher and Higher Education Institutions is conducted with distance education.
It is understood that, in cases where the physical presence of students or academics of Higher and Higher Education Institutions is absolutely necessary, either for research purposes or for the purpose of conducting laboratory courses for the preparation of students for examinations, a laboratory course may be conducted or presence, in compliance with the health protocols.
Private Tutoring
In addition, the new decree suspends the operation of all private tuition centers and private training centers until March 7, 2021, with the exception of conducting tuition centers with the physical presence of only two persons, including the instructor, and from March 8, 2021 their operation is allowed. in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministries of Health and Education, Culture, Sports and Youth with a physical presence and a maximum of five people, including the trainer.
In addition, all team sports and social activities are prohibited and it is understood that team sports activities are allowed, as well as activities with the physical presence of only two people, including the trainer.
Use of indoor and outdoor sports facilities
According to the new decree, the operation and use of indoor and outdoor sports facilities is suspended, with the exception of the operation of sports facilities for training and team sports matches, without the presence of spectators, for the professional championships of the teams AD, BD and DG Category and national teams, without the use of locker rooms and similar infrastructure and with the observance of health protocols.
It is understood that on the day of the match the operation of the locker rooms, the operation of the outdoor sports facilities for individual training without physical contact is allowed, provided that the coaches do not exceed five persons, including the coach, without the use of locker rooms and similar infrastructure, guidelines of the Cyprus Sports Organization and the Ministry of Health.
For Classic Sports sports, it is allowed in outdoor track and field facilities, the simultaneous training of athletes not exceeding five persons per team, including the coach, provided that the total number of persons per sports facility does not exceed thirty persons.
Simultaneous training of athletes not exceeding five persons per team, including the coach, is permitted on large football fields, provided that the total number of persons per sports facility does not exceed fifteen persons, while the operation of indoor sports facilities, subject to guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Cyprus Sports Organization, without the use of locker rooms and similar infrastructure, meaning that in facilities up to 80 sq.m. do not exceed two people including the trainer / coach, in facilities beyond 80 sq.m. and up to 200 sq.m. do not exceed three people including the trainer / coach and in the facilities of an open space over 200 sq.m. do not exceed five people, including the trainer / coach.
