The new President of the Synod of Rectors, in which the Rectors of all the universities of Cyprus participate, was taken over by the Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK), Professor Panagiotis Zafeiris. The decision was made during its session, the 31st Synod of Rectors of Cypriot Universities, which took place today. Professor Panikos Poutziouris took over the position of Vice President of the Synod of Rectors and Professor Filippos Pougioutas took over the position of Secretary. & Nbsp;
In his statements, the new president of the Synod of Rectors Panagiotis Zafeiris stated that: & nbsp; “The field of higher education in Cyprus in recent years has shown significant growth and the leading role and contribution of our universities in the development of & nbsp; Research, Education and their interconnection with Industry and Society is recognized by all. At the same time, there are a number of issues and challenges that will occupy the Synod of Rectors for the next two years and are related to the legal framework that affects the operation of Cypriot universities, the attraction of quality foreign students and the extroversion of Universities in line with European and international trends. ” It is the body that connects the universities of Cyprus with the single space of higher education and research in Europe.
