The financing opportunities arising from the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability were presented during an online event entitled “Redefining the future: Transition to a more competitive and green economy” organized by EV Cyprus with the support of the CCCI, on Tuesday, June 8.
According to an EV announcement, during the event, Ministers, government officials and EV executives presented in detail the main priority pillars of the program, Digital Transformation and Energy Transition, as well as the individual objectives, such as boosting the competitiveness of the economy. green development, digital transformation, the modernization of the education system, the strengthening of the health system and the welfare state and the consolidation of effective institutions.

Business executives who attended the event also had the opportunity to be briefed and asked about funding opportunities arising from the individual sponsorship projects planned by the Government.
The government was represented by the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Natasa Pileidou and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Costas Kadis.
On behalf of EV, the event was prefaced by Stavros Pantzaris, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EV Cyprus.
Sakis Mousseos, Partner and Project Manager for Public Sector Organizations of EY Cyprus, referred to the megatrends that redefine the future, namely the technological revolution, climate change, globalization and demographic evolution. how the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability will help Cyprus to adapt to these trends and strengthen its resilience and competitiveness, so as to attract investment in traditional and new sectors of economic activity.
The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Costas Kadis, referred to the strategy of the Ministry to support the economy in the framework of the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability and presented in detail the 19 interventions (investments and reforms) that serve the vision of the Minister. clean and green Cyprus. Mr. Kadis concluded by emphasizing that “The reforms and projects that will be implemented by YGAAP are expected to radically change the performance and the image of Cyprus in general in a number of areas that Cyprus has shown weaknesses over time and contribute to achieving the broader goal of the adoption of a more sustainable development model “.
Dr. Theodoulos Mesimeris, Senior Officer of the Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, presented the Ministry's plan to reduce greenhouse gas (CO2eq) emissions in industries, businesses and organizations, which is part of the European reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Afterwards, Andreas Lizidis, Industrial Applications Officer A 'of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, presented the plan to promote energy efficiency investments in small and medium enterprises, municipalities, communities and institutions of the wider public sector.
Panos Houtris, Director of Sustainable Development Services of EV Cyprus, presented the Climate Change and Energy Transition services offered by EV, explaining why it is necessary to reduce the pollution of a company today. He pointed out that EV guides its customers throughout the process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helping companies to understand the current carbon footprint, set strategic goals, establish the right procedures and communicate results in a timely manner.
Then, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Natasa Pileidou, presented the strategy of the Ministry for a low-emission economy, and referred in detail to the incentives and funding of the project. Ms. Pileidou stressed: “The strategy of the Ministry aims, among other things, at removing the energy isolation of Cyprus through a reliable corridor for the transfer of electricity from the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe and the development of energy storage technology.”

Referring to the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, Stavros Pantzaris said: “We have before us a unique opportunity for the recovery of our economy but also the creation of a new vision and a modern productive model for Cyprus. The funds of the Recovery and Sustainability Plan in combination with the resources of the Cohesion Funds and the private funds that can be mobilized reach 4.4 billion euros.
