With the positive votes of the 43 of the 44 Members present, without a declared abstention, the Convention of the Council of Europe on the counterfeiting of Medical Products and the like was ratified into law by the Plenary Session of the Parliament. Violations that pose a Threat to Public Health, which was signed on October 28, 2011 and whose signature by the Republic of Cyprus was approved by a decision of the Council of Ministers on April 17, 2019.

As stated in the report of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs and European Affairs to the Plenary Session of the Parliament, based on its information during the discussion of the ratification bill, the convention includes provisions aimed at preventing and combating threats against public counterfeiting of medicinal products and similar offenses by criminalizing certain acts, protecting the rights of victims, and promoting national and international cooperation. In addition, the Convention provides for a monitoring mechanism to ensure its effective implementation.
