Discontent of the House for non-submission of the budgets by the Organizations

The Plenary approved the January twelfth for semi-state organizations whose budget has not yet been approved. 31 deputies voted for and 1 against.
With the decision, certain legal entities under public law whose budgets for the year 2024 have not yet been approved are authorized to spend for the month of January 2024 an amount that does not exceed the portion of the total amount provided for in the budget of each legal entity under public law for the year 2023, which corresponds to the same period of time, i.e. the month of January 2023.
According to the decision, no expenditure can be made for new services or purposes, nor can any new position be paid to legal entities under public law, until the budgets of legal entities under public law are approved by Parliament and take their final form. in the year 2024.
DIKO Member of Parliament Christiana Erotokritou expressed her disappointment with the behavior of the semi-state organizations which is repeated every December and which do not submit the budgets within the period which the Constitution defines. He spoke of contempt for the Constitution and the Parliament.
The Speaker of the Parliament Annita Dimitriou spoke of an unacceptable contempt for the Parliament since most of the semi-state budgets have not yet been submitted.
He expressed the opinion that the Parliament should send a message once because that is the only way they will take it into account. He asked “everyone to take their responsibilities”.
