The Party for the Animals of Cyprus calls on the Municipalities but especially the communities to take their responsibilities and apply the dog law 184(Ι) 2002. As they report, they are overwhelmed by citizens who complain that they do not find a response to their complaints or to their complaints when it comes to matters of animal welfare and protection.
The complaints, they add, mostly concern the responsibilities of the local authorities which whistle carelessly. “They can't even have temporary dog detention facilities for example, they are illegal without shame and find various excuses. A dog can't be walking around injured and not have the means to catch it, and what's worse, they don't accept to pay the costs of veterinary care”.
They also report that the Local Government has not managed to do a correct task of counting the dogs whether they have guardians or are abandoned so that a class is entered. The party warns that if they do not implement the relevant legislation, it will now begin to publicize names and communities that refuse to accept the responsibilities arising from the relevant legislation.
