The people of Kyrenia condemned the declaration of the pseudo-state and withdrew their request for return

The Municipal Youth Councils of the Municipalities of Kyrenia, Lapithos and Karava organized on Monday evening, in Nicosia, the province-wide anti-occupation march condemning the declaration of the pseudo-state and expressed their request for return. Representatives of political parties, organized groups and representatives of occupied municipalities and communities participated in the march.
Rita Theodorou-Superman, Member of Parliament of DISY, stated that “Erdoğan has not asked us to decide on the partition. This decision is only for the Kyrenians and we call on all Kyrenians to start taking part in such events because Kyrenia is ours and only ours”.
Christos Christofias, Member of Parliament of AKEL, stated that it is important “to remind everyone that we do not forget and to demand that the international community stand by the side of the Cypriot people in their quest for liberation and reunification”. He added that “the achievements of the invasion and occupation cannot leave us indifferent, but to fight to the end for the resumption of negotiations from where they left off in Crans Montana, so as to seek a definitive solution to the Cyprus problem and avoid partition”.
For her part, Rita Elissaiu-Komodiki, Mayor of Kyrenia, said that “we want to bring together our young people, to whom we should pass on the feelings we have felt for our homeland in order to to be able to continue our work”. He also pointed out that “the struggle is common, it is not only of the Kyrenians, it is of the whole Cypriot people”.
