On Friday, July 1st, the urban planning permit was issued by the central Offices of Urban Planning for the American University of Beirut to be built in Paphos, according to a related announcement by the Mayor of Paphos Phaidonas Phaidonos, expressing his satisfaction.
According to the announcement on Friday, the Urban Planning Authority approved the application for planning permission for the development of the American University of Beirut.
It is noted that the agreement between the Municipality of Paphos and the American University of Beirut (AUB), for the establishment of the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo in Cyprus was signed on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Markideio Municipal Theater of Paphos in the presence of the President of the Republic .
As stated in the announcement, this is a very important development, as it ensures the presence and operation of a university with a historical tradition in the region and thus the university map of Cyprus is significantly enriched and strengthened. According to the Mayor of Paphos, the arrival of the American University of Beirut in Paphos, “puts us on the world map of university education”. He added that there are few universities around the world that have the tradition, history and influence that this particular university has, while noting that the American University of Beirut, despite the difficulties and competitions it faces at times, remains among the top 220 universities of the world.
