A new package of measures aimed at supporting students, but also easing the family budget, in the context of measures to deal with punctuality , announced the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis.
The package of measures, under the title “At every beginning together!”, was formed with the aim of further supporting young people and their families, at the start of the new school year”.
Over 45,000 students are expected to benefit from the package of support measures, with the total amount of the measures amounting to €9, 5 million. and aims at the practical support of young people and their families for the purchase of school supplies, for the purchase of a Tablet, for the purchase of a computer, but also for the costs of handling.
In more detail the package of measures “At every beginning together!” includes the following:
- A) A grant of €100 for the purchase of school supplies per student of 1st Primary, Middle School, High School and Technical School. About 26,000 students will benefit from the measure, with the cost amounting to €2.6 million.
- B) A €200 grant for the purchase of a tablet for all 3rd Primary students and a €400 grant for the purchase of a laptop for all 2nd High School students. About 17,000 students will benefit from the measure, with the cost amounting to €5 million.
- C) Grant of €150 for families entitled to child benefit, whose at least three children attend Pre-Primary (ages 4/6/12 and above), Primary, Secondary and Technical Education. It is clarified that the beneficiaries of this measure also include families who have children attending private education.
- D) A grant of €150 for families whose at least three children attend public Pre-Primary (ages 4/6/12 and above), Primary, Secondary and Technical Education schools and are not beneficiaries of any of the above measures. In this case, families will be able to submit a request for the grant of the €150 allowance from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN), through the addresses of the schools where their children attend. Up to 5,900 families will benefit from measures C and D. The fiscal cost is estimated at €900,000.
- E) Discount on Public Passenger Transport fares for Secondary General and Secondary Technical Education students. This measure will result in the cost of annual fees for each student being reduced from €200 to €30 and monthly fees from €10 to €5. Approximately 20,000 students will benefit from the measure. Please note that Primary School students do not pay fees. The additional fiscal cost is estimated at €1 million. This measure is expected to contribute significantly, beyond the obvious support of the family budget, both to addressing the traffic problem and to the green transition.
