The prices of olive oil and potatoes recorded the largest annual increase in August, according to data from the Consumer Price Index, compiled by the Cyprus Consumers Association.
Specifically, the price of olive oil recorded a 62% increase in August 2024 compared to the price it had in August 2023, while the price of potatoes increased by 29% in the same period.

According to the data, prices for passenger buses and coaches also increased by 26%, but also for fresh vegetables by 19%.
The biggest decrease in August 2024 in compared to the same month in 2023, the price of sugar recorded a 27.6% drop, while, according to the data, prices for international flights are also down 13% compared to last year.
Compared to July 2024, in August 2024 the biggest price increase was observed in fresh vegetables, by 25%, vegetables by 18% and potatoes by 16%. For the same period, the biggest declines were recorded in fruit by 6% and frozen seafood by 4%.
