The cooperation of the existing mayors and municipal councils is also needed

In his statements on Tuesday evening on the sidelines of the opening of the photo exhibition of Adonis Christoforos and invited to make an assessment of today's meeting at the Presidential Palace with the Leaders of the political parties, the President of the Republic stated that it was a very good meeting during which there was Exchange of views. “There are common goals with the parliamentary parties, to work, to do what is possible”.

He added that the cooperation of the existing mayors and municipal councils is also needed so that we have a successful implementation of the TA reform. “Potential challenges, problems that will arise are something that both we as the executive power and from the point of view of the legislative power, there is a will and we are here to resolve them,” he stressed.

Asked to comment on the absence of the President of DISY Annlitas Dimitriou, the President of the Republic emphasized that “we are reducing an issue (to a major one) when there is not even an issue”, and noted that “the Speaker of the Parliament and President of DISY certainly had other obligations and did not could attend”. He indicated that a representative of Mrs. Dimitriou participated in the meeting and that therefore “we should not discuss an issue that really does not exist”.

When asked if any changes should be expected after the elections in the TA, President Christodoulidis clarified that certainly before the elections there will not be any changes that will affect the philosophy of the reform in any way. “Then I hope there will be no challenges and problems and there will be no changes. If there are, we are definitely here to deal with them”, he said.

The President pointed out in this context that in every major reform, as for example in the National Health Service, in the reform of the Public Administration where some challenges are already identified, ” we are”, as he said, “here to face them”.

When asked if there are convergences with the parties, the President of the Republic spoke of “absolute convergences”, but also of “common goals and common pursuits ” for which he expressed the certainty that they will be achieved through this collective effort.
