The Executive Committee of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) held a meeting with the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipandelas, today, March 8, 2022, regarding the letter sent by the CCCI, which resulted in the resignation of the CCC. Board of Directors of OAY.
During the meeting, the Executive Committee of the CCCI, as the main representative of the business world, assured the Minister of Health that from the first moment he supported and continues to support the GESS, because he believes that it was and is an urgent need for a progressive society but at the same time a huge social conquest.
At the same time, he developed his concerns about the way the GSS is managed by the OAY, after the series of serious irregularities and abuses that arose during the examination of the operation of the General System, by the Audit Office and confirmed by the Attorney General.
The position of the CCCI is to achieve a more effective treatment of abuses, in order to preserve the viability of the General Health System and the Management Team of the OAU, to operate with transparency, efficiency and within the letter and spirit of the law, as voted by Parliament, respecting and cooperating, both with the Government and with the other institutions of the State.
It was also stressed that the priority of the CCCI remains the provision of quality services to citizens, the control of system costs, so that they are within the global budget, the development of effective mechanisms to combat abuse and the requirement to apply quality criteria, in cooperation with all service providers in the system.
